๐ŸŽฎ Entry-Level Gaming PC โ€“ RX 560 4GB | 8GB RAM | 1TB HDD + SSD | Linux Mint

Budget Gaming PC / Older Games / Retro Gaming

Looking for an inexpensive gaming PC that can handle older games without breaking the bank?

This Dell OptiPlex 3020 has been converted into a surprisingly capable little gaming machine with an AMD RX 560 4GB graphics card, upgraded power supply, SSD boot drive, and 1TB of additional storage.

It isn't designed to compete with modern high-end gaming PCs โ€” and that's not what this machine is about. If you don't need to play the newest AAA releases at ultra settings and just want an affordable PC for older games, indie titles, classic PC gaming, and general use, this machine can be a lot of fun for the money.

๐Ÿ”ง Specifications PC: Dell OptiPlex 3020 GPU: ASRock Phantom Gaming Radeon RX 560 4GB RAM: 8GB SK Hynix DDR3 1600MHz Boot Drive: ORICO 128GB 2.5" SSD Storage: Western Digital 1TB HDD Power Supply: AresGame 500W 80+ Bronze Operating System: Linux Mint Drives: DVD Reader/Writer

๐ŸŽฎ What Can It Play?

The RX 560 may be an older graphics card, but paired with Linux Mint and reasonable graphics settings, this system can still provide a very enjoyable gaming experience.

It's particularly well suited for:

Older AAA games Indie games Classic PC games Emulation Older competitive games Lightweight multiplayer titles Minecraft and similar games General everyday PC use

Counter-Strike 2 also runs surprisingly well, averaging approximately 90โ€“100 FPS in testing.

Keep in mind that Linux Mint is not compatible with every eSports title, so this isn't the ideal machine if your primary goal is playing every popular competitive game. Some games with anti-cheat systems may not work properly under Linux.

๐Ÿง Why Linux Mint?

Rather than installing a resource-heavy operating system on this relatively modest hardware, this PC comes with Linux Mint installed.

Linux Mint is lightweight and helps make the most of the available CPU, RAM, and storage. That means more of the system's limited resources are available for the things that actually matter โ€” including your games.

If you're comfortable with Linux, it's a great way to get more life out of older hardware.

๐Ÿ’ก The Bottom Line

This is not a modern AAA gaming PC, and I'm not going to pretend it is.

What it is is an inexpensive way to get into PC gaming.

The RX 560 4GB still has enough horsepower to make older and less-demanding games enjoyable, while the SSD makes the system much more responsive than a typical old office PC. The 1TB HDD also provides plenty of additional storage for a large game library.

If you're looking for an affordable first gaming PC, retro/older-game machine, or budget project, this converted OptiPlex is worth a look.

Great for someone who wants to game without spending hundreds of dollars on a modern gaming rig.

๐Ÿ“ฆ Condition

Used system assembled from previously owned components. The PC has been tested and configured with Linux Mint and is ready to use.

Please understand that this is an older, entry-level gaming PC. Performance will depend heavily on the game and graphics settings, and Linux compatibility varies from game to game.
