I have reset the router and have updated the firmware on the router to the currently supported version from NETGEAR.

For anyone wondering about range - this router, actually, has a much longer range than my current one. I had it inside the patch/network panel that is dead center in the middle of the home and I can get a decent signal from the backyard fence (going through multiple walls and about 40 yards, about 36.6 meters of air). I get about the same quality signal from the front despite there being more noise in the front sections of the home, garage, and front yard. The beamforming tech does help.
