Overview & Specs
This one's a minimalist panda build with a bit of RGB flair, the kind that holds its looks even with the lights off. That's an actual problem with translucent-blade RGB fans: kill the lights and they go from "sleek" to "sad plastic." L-Connect 3 runs all the RGB through its built-in OpenRGB plugin, and lets you customize the AIO's LCD screen. I had a lot of much fun cycling through random clips and GIFs while testing.
A couple years ago, a build like this would've gotten called unbalanced, paying a premium for looks. Now? LGA1700 rivals AM4 pricing at the higher end, with more of an upgrade path to show for it. Believe the BIOS-fix claims about Intel's degradation drama or not, 12th gen was never affected, so this is a win-win either way. LGA1700 is also known for being thirsty, which is why the 360 Hydroshift is on duty. I've power-limited the CPU to 190W per Intel's own guidelines, though the 12700KF will gladly pull over 250W should you unlock it.
One thing to flag on the case: the HYTE Y40 is a vertical-GPU-only design, but it comes with a PCIe 4.0 riser cable, so the 3080 still runs at full bandwidth, and PCIe 5.0 gpus will run fine. You're also getting 32GB of DDR4 at 4400MT/s CL19, which is honestly knocking on DDR5's door, the gap is smaller than people make it out to be. I've personally seen DDR5 clocked at 4400MT/s with way worse latency than what this kit is doing. Backing it all is a Gold 850W A-Tier¹ PSU with a native 600W 12V-2x6 cable, providing plenty of stable, efficient power for the 3080 (which eats around 320W on its own) plus headroom for whatever upgrade you throw at it down the line.
If you're a Dr. Stone fan, Dr. Xeno would probably call this one "very elegant indeed."
