Description from Seller

Intel® Core™ i7-14700K

Status

This is a brand new Intel Core i7 14700K sent to me directly from Intel.

I was forced to break the factory seal sticker on the box because the processor was loose in the box upon receiving it. It was still contained within its protective plastic sleeve within the box however, so the CPU is in pristine condition. I reassembled the packaging within the box so it was properly aligned with the box view port and held in place by the internal card board framing. I didn't feel comfortable selling the CPU in the box sealed, moving freely within the box, and I wanted to visually inspect the CPU first.

Why?

I am selling it because I do not need it. I had a previous 14700K in my machine that ran flawlessly for more than a year. However, when I upgraded my GPU to a Radeon 9070XT, I would get an occasional machine lockup. I individually tested every single part in my machine, by trying them in other machines, and/or elaborate stress testing, which included the CPU and was never able to determine any failing part. I came to the conclusion that I had unluckily chosen some parts that in combination were incompatible (despite in 20+ years of PC building, I've never directly experienced that).

I opted to swap out my CPU and motherboard, retaining every other part of my machine. I switched to a Ryzen 7 7700X, and so too a AM5 based motherboard. This resolved all my issues, despite leaving me a little disheartened by having to do a modest downgrade (or at best a side-grade).

As added insurance, I contacted Intel and explained my situation and they allowed me to exchange the processor under an RMA. The processor I am selling is brand new CPU sent to me directly from Intel . It has never been used.

Opinion

This is a fantastic performing CPU. Just ensure you are running the latest microcode from Intel via the latest UEFI bios from your motherboard's manufacturer. I had purchased my original CPU post the 13th/14th Gen Degradation issue and had always ran it using default Intel specifications using the latest microcode.
