Overview & Specs
This listing is for one E3 Nor Flasher Downgrade Tool DIY for Flash console
This tool is a hardware flashing device primarily used to downgrade a PlayStation 3 console's firmware to version 3.55. This downgrade allows users to install custom firmware (CFW), which unlocks homebrew applications and system modifications. It requires console disassembly and precise installation of a clip directly onto the motherboard's NOR chip
The E3 Flasher is only compatible with NOR flash PS3 models, which include most FAT models (CECHG through CECHQ) and almost all SLIM models (CECH-20xx, CECH-21xx, and CECH-25xx). It is not compatible with later Slim models (CECH-30xx) or any Super Slims (CECH-40xx), as these use a different architecture and cannot be downgraded via hardware clips
Essential Requirements To perform this DIY modification, you will need several additional items: Micro SD card (typically 2GB to 16GB) for backing up and patching your system data. PC or Laptop for validating and patching the NOR dump. Torx and Phillips screwdrivers to completely disassemble the console. Custom Firmware (CFW) update file on a FAT32-formatted USB flash drive to finalize the downgrade. Thermal paste to reapply to the CPU/GPU when you reassemble the console, as you will need to remove the heatsinks to access the chip. [1, 2, 3, 4] Important Precautions Modifying system firmware carries a high risk of permanently bricking the console if done incorrectly. Before attempting this, you should confirm your console's exact model number (found on the sticker at the back or bottom of the PS3) to ensure it can be downgraded. You must also make multiple backups of your NOR chip data and verify them on your PC before writing any patched files back to the console.
