Selling a used ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Hero ATX motherboard, model ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO.

This board was pulled from my personal test bench after roughly 11 months of use validating GPUs, CPUs, and storage hardware. It was a reliable reference platform and saw moderate but consistent use during that period. After my final validation cycle, the board was stored in an anti-static bag.

The motherboard is in used, good condition. It is fully functional with no known functional issues, but does have cosmetic scratches on the PCB surface from test bench mounting and hardware swaps. The thermal pads on the M.2_2 and M.2_3 heatsinks (the two lower onboard M.2 slots located beneath the primary PCIe x16 slot) have been removed due to heavy use and degradation. The buyer must install new thermal pads before mounting SSDs in those slots.

Per ASUS specs, this model features the Intel Z790 chipset, LGA 1700 socket (supports 12th / 13th / 14th Gen Intel Core), ATX form factor, 4x DDR5 DIMM slots up to 192GB / DDR5-7800+, 20+1 teamed power stages, PCIe 5.0 x16, 3x onboard M.2 slots (plus 2 additional slots via the included ROG Hyper M.2 card), 6x SATA 6Gb/s, Wi-Fi 6E, Intel 2.5Gb Ethernet, 2x Thunderbolt 4 ports, USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, HDMI, SupremeFX ALC4082 audio, and Polymo Lighting.

Condition

Functional: Tested with no known functional issues. BIOS was updated to the latest stable revision during final validation. All DIMM slots, PCIe slots, M.2 slots, SATA ports, USB ports, and rear I/O tested working.

Cosmetic: Used good condition. Cosmetic scratches are visible on the motherboard PCB from test bench mounting and repeated hardware installation. Please review listing photos for exact physical condition.

Maintenance Note: The thermal pads on the M.2_2 and M.2_3 heatsinks (the two lower onboard M.2 slots) have been removed due to heavy use and degradation. The buyer must install new thermal pads before mounting SSDs in those slots. The M.2_1 heatsink (top slot near the CPU) is unaffected.

Power / Compatibility

This motherboard requires an LGA 1700 CPU and DDR5 memory. Supports 8+8 pin CPU power connectors. Buyer must provide their own compatible LGA 1700 cooler and confirm case clearance (ATX) before purchasing.

Packing / Shipping

The motherboard is stored in a 3 mil static shielding bag and carefully wrapped with static shielding bubble wrap inside a box to prevent movement during transit. That box is then placed inside a larger outer box with proper padding.
