For sale is a fully restored and nicely upgraded Game Boy Color.
The motherboard is an authentic GBC board, with all of the electrolytic capacitors replaced to ensure long-term functionality. Almost all the other parts are brand new replacements:
-New translucent purple shell
-New buttons and button pads
-New speaker
-New glass lens
-New backlit IPS LCD screen with capacitive touch controls (explained below)
The new screen and glass lens are major quality of life upgrades, giving you a bright, crisp, scratch resistant screen, with touch controls to give you control over brightness, color, and retro pixel effects. I really think this is the sweet spot between faithfully retro and modern upgrades.
New IPS LCD Screen Details
There are two capacitive touch sensors that control the display settings of the LCD screen. These sensors are both located on the top side of the device, one on the IR sensor side and one opposite to it. Just place your finger over them to activate. Since the new screen has 9x the pixel density of the original screen (3x3 pixels on the new screen = 1 pixel on the original, so perfect integer scaling) it looks very crisp. For those who want a more retro look, but want the advantage of the nice bright backlight, there are settings to emulate the slight pixel spacing you can get on the old screens, as well as some color modes.
Full On Screen Menu:
-To access the full on screen menu, hold both (Left and Right) pads for 5 seconds
-Tap Left control to navigate the settings
-Tap Right control to change the setting values
Quick Controls:
-Tap the Right pad to cycle through the 15 brightness levels
-Hold the Left pad and tap the Right control to cycle through the color modes
-Hold the Right control and tap the Left one to cycle through the pixel display modes
Does not come with any games, batteries, original box or manual, or accessories.
