Some Will Love This Build, Some Will Hate It

If you’re looking to jump into PC gaming with a prebuilt, and you specifically want a current generation GPU from Nvidia that doesn’t break the bank, then this should be your pick. Let’s dive a little further.

Some Will Love This Build, Some Will Hate It

This is one of the least flashy builds that I’ve reviewed on this newsletter so far, but this build still warrants attention because it’s going to appeal to a specific audience. If you’re looking to jump into PC gaming with a prebuilt, and you specifically want a current generation GPU from Nvidia that doesn’t break the bank, then this should be your pick. Let’s dive a little further.

Favorite Features

  • RTX 4060 - Now let me be clear, us PC building enthusiasts typically aren’t a fan of the RTX 4060. The price point that it’s at is a pretty tough sell, especially compared to some AMD alternatives. However, what us PC building and specifically flipping experts also know, is that most casual prebuilt buyers prefer Nvidia over AMD. Nvidia has an 83%+ marketshare for dedicated GPUs right now, so sometimes we just need to give the people what they want. This RTX 4060 is the latest offering from Nvidia at their cheapest price point available for current generation, so this build will appeal to a lot of people, especially those looking to spend around $850.
  • AM4 Platform - The other thing I like about this platform, specifically for casual prebuilt buyers, is that most people are aware of the upgradeability of the AM4 platform. This build is somewhat limited by the A520M motherboard mind you, but there is still an upgrade path available if the buyer wants more power than the Ryzen 5 5500. This motherboard does also include WiFi and Bluetooth which is a welcomed bonus.
  • Design - I believe minimalists will enjoy how this one looks on top of the desk. There’s some RGB flexibility in here with the case fans, motherboard, and the RAM sticks, but overall it’s not too flashy and will appeal to a lot of people. No matter which color choice you go with, all of them will match nicely with the clean all-black components.

Price to Performance Value

This is a tricky section of the newsletter this week. Again, if a casual prebuilt buyer is looking for a latest generation Nvidia build that doesn’t break the bank, the value is amazing with this prebuilt. However, if you’re looking for the absolute most raw price to performance option, this one wouldn’t be it. $849 is indeed a great price for an RTX 4060 prebuilt, but you could get much better performance with an RX 6700XT build and possibly even cheaper.

First Upgrades

The RTX 4060 will last in 1080p gaming for a few years here, so I’d recommend starting with either the CPU or RAM upgrade first. If the buyer wants to get into content creation or any sort of multi task work then bumping up to 32GB will the better pick, but if they need more CPU processing power then that option is available as well.

Conclusion

I feel the need for one last disclaimer here, so again, this build is probably not going to appeal to the enthusiast builders on our platform. But rest assured, that’s not who it’s designed for. If you’re up to speed on the latest PC flipping trends, then you’ll know that builds like this are what’s appealing to a big percentage of the prebuilt market. I think Critical Hit Computers is strategically targeting that market with a build like this, and it wouldn’t surprise me if it sells pretty quickly.
