The first DLC for Darkest Dungeon II, known as The Binding Blade, is set to bring a range of new elements to the game. It introduces two unique heroes: The Duelist, a versatile combatant capable of switching between defensive and aggressive stances, and The Crusader, a returning character from the first game, known for his powerful holy attacks and healing abilities. Additionally, the DLC adds a new roaming mini-boss, the Warlord, which presents a new challenge as it can appear anywhere in the game.
Each new hero comes equipped with special trinkets and signature items, enhancing their unique combat styles. The DLC also deepens the game's story by providing fully voiced backstories for these characters, complete with playable flashback encounters. This adds more depth to the game's narrative, allowing players to engage more with the characters' histories.
The Binding Blade is a paid DLC and is expected to be released in December 2023. The decision to charge for this DLC supports the developers in continuing to create both paid and free content for the game, ensuring ongoing enhancements and expansions to the Darkest Dungeon II universe.
