Bring Forth the Build They Call the North

The title wasn’t my best, but quickly moving past that today we’re checking out a gorgeous Ryzen 5 5600X and RTX 3070 gaming PC, most notably inside the Fractal Design North case. People either love it or hate it, but if you’re a fan of this wood panel case design, then you’ll absolutely enjoy this build. Let’s head north to take a closer look. Ok, I’m done.

Favorite Features

  • Fractal Design North White - Launched just a few short months ago, this case brought wood paneling back to the gaming PC industry and a ton of people love this design. For people that don’t like all the flashy RGB lights and LCD screens, a simply and cozy build like this can be much appreciated. If you’re the type of person that sits at a real wood desk instead of an Ikea countertop with an RGB light underneath, this is most likely a case that you’re interested in.
  • Benchmarks - I don’t typically feature benchmarks in this newsletter, but since Forge Computers included them in the posting, I think they’re worth highlighting. This Ryzen 5 5600X and Gigabyte Vision RTX 3070 are both officially a full generation old now, but they absolutely can still kick it for both 1080p and 1440p gaming. In 1440p, we’re talking 400+ FPS in Apex Legends, 130 FPS in Modern Warfare 2, and 360 FPS in Fortnite. Incredible power.
  • Streaming Friendly - With the way this build is designed, it’s not only a super clean gaming PC, but it also features a ton of streaming capabilities as well. Because of the 6 core 5600X, Nvidia RTX 3070, along with 32GB of RAM, you’ll absolutely be able to stream games while playing them at high frame rates.

Price to Performance Value

This category is actually getting difficult to write about because over the last 2-3 months our PC hardware market is getting incredibly spicy, especially here on Jawa. We’re already starting to see RTX 3070 builds pop up every now and then for around $1000, but clearly with a build like North, price to performance isn’t all that’s valuable. With this kind of build you’re certainly paying for extra aesthetics with the case, cooler, GPU, etc but that’s still very valuable to people that care about it. This won’t be the cheapest 5600X and 3070 build on Jawa, but it’s easily one of the best looking builds no matter what the price range is.

First Upgrades

There’s nothing that absolutely needs to be upgraded in this build, but there sure are plenty of options for later down the line. The CPU, GPU, and SSD can all be easily upgraded at a later date depending on what the buyer would personal need. There just isn’t any significant weak points inside this build that need addressed any time soon. It’s ready to go!

Conclusion

If the unique wood design doesn’t instantly throw you off, then this is definitely a build worth considering if you’re in the market for a mid-ranged to higher end gaming PC. Packed with performance rich components and and a unique cozy aesthetic, this PC will certainly make the buyer happy for years to come with their new build.
